Classroom construction in Founders' Hall

Construction began in 2002 December.  There will be two new classrooms plus a new vestibule adjacent to the outside door.  In addition, an existing resource room is being renovated to serve as a classroom, and there are some general improvements being made to the entire space.

Here is the first stage of construction.  The studs for the new classroom and vestibule have just been installed.  Carol is standing in the vestibule area, and the existing outside door is to her right.

Here is the same scene. There is a great pile of construction debris from removed ductwork.

Here is where much of the ductwork came from.  This is the inside of the former resource room with the wall ready to be rebuilt.Back to top wall with gap above and on side
Here is an overall perspective looking from the existing meeting area back towards the construction.  The vestibule will be on the left, where stairs to the outside door are visible. The two new classrooms are shown to the right.  (Actually only about 1.5 classrooms are visible in the picture.) studs in background
And here's a view from the opposite side.  Note the double-wide doors on both sides of the classrooms.  This will make for easy access and multi-purpose use. The electric wiring has now been installed. closeup of work done

Same view as in top two pictures.  The wallboard is up, and some of the debris has been removed.

Here's the storage room again.  Only a little progress is visible here, but soon this will be an attractive classroom.Back to top classrooms08.jpg (69333 bytes)
This is the same wall seen from the other side.  Yes, we expect the construction crew will put it all back together! classrooms09.jpg (61353 bytes)
Here is a general view from the meeting room.  The double-wide doors are clearer. classrooms10.jpg (51714 bytes)

Here again is the same view as in the top two pictures, now a week later.  The doors are installed, but otherwise the outside looks the same.  However, work has been done inside the new classrooms.

Here's a view from the opposite side of the classrooms.  The outside entrance is behind the camera, and the vestibule is just out of the picture to the right. classrooms12.jpg (91202 bytes)
Here is the interior of one of the classrooms.  Support ribs for the dropped ceiling are in, and built-in cabinets are just being installed.

The other classroom looks pretty similar.  Here is a better view of the support ribs for the ceiling with new ductwork for the heating system above. The mysterious object in the lower left corner is a work light used for the construction. classrooms15.jpg (80811 bytes)
