As in the past several years, NHCC sponsored a community Easter egg hunt prior to worship. This
young lad seems to have managed a pretty full basket even while overlooking the
egg to his right.
A
thorough search was necessary.
These girls look like they're having fun. The day was a bit chilly,
but there wasn't any snow this year.
The worship
included all the usual ingredients. Here Jean Miller has just finished the
Scripture reading, while Gretchen Elmendorf is ready to give the children's
message.
The theme of the children's message was "things that rise."
Here Gretchen's helpers use helium-filled balloons as examples.
Music is always an important part of Easter worship, as indeed of almost all
our worship services.
Here's
a closeup of the trumpeters (actually taken at the rehearsal just prior to the
service, but who would know?).
And here's a closeup of the choir.
The sanctuary was decorated with lilies and tulips, shown
here as Ken Baily is preaching.
As always at NHCC, Easter worship included Holy Communion. Here
Gretchen blesses the bread.
The
Communion servers were a multi-generational group.
Here is the "wine" (actually grape juice for us) being served to the congregation.
We often have Communion by intinction but not on Easter.
After worship, cake and other refreshments were served in the parlor.
This
group seems to be enjoying themselves. The boy in the foreground seems to
be trying to decide which piece of cake is the biggest.
