NHCC Responds to Needs in Haiti
As of January 20th, the needs on the ground in Haiti are still evolving and
emerging. They are enormous. But here are three bits of information,
invitation and inspiration:
- Money that you gave to this parish in 2009 that we gave in OCWM (Our
Church's Wider Mission) is at work already on the ground. Last year NHCC
gave $12,000 to this UCC offering. Thank you. It is helping.
- We are connected with several groups that had workers on the
ground as of Thursday January 14. These are Church World Service (by
helicopter) and Konbit Sante -- a hospital on the ground already. All
Church World Service workers are safe and serving urgent
mission. Konbit Sante, a health clinic, now has "the largest standing
hospital" in the nation. By mid-week we had sent them each $695 from
donations. We invite you to make a donation to our parish which we will
direct to these working groups. (Check out http://www.churchworldservice.org/
or http://www.konbitsante.org/ . We know people at both places.) Imagine if we
increased our $1390 donation to $2,000! Or dream of even more.
- Please pray for all those affected and all the workers. Pray earnestly and
fervently. Because when prayer changes the way that the world is (when we do
it), then prayer changes the way that the world can be.
Piti, piti, zwazo fe niche li.
Little by little the bird makes its nest.
